rsterling78I just washed my Prowler with Meguiar's Deep Crystal Car Wash. The instructions said to rinse the car off "with a flow of water (not a stream)..."

What the devil does that mean? I've always thought of the words flow and stream as being pretty much synonymous. What I did was I sprayed the Prowler off with my garden hose using a pistol-grip sprayer. I'm not sure if a spray is more like a flow or a stream.

I noticed that when I sprayed my Prowler off there were rivulets of water coming off the vehicle and onto the ground. I'm pretty sure that rivulets are closer to a stream than a flow. I hope this doesn't mean that all the paint will be peeled off the thing tomorrow morning.

I observed a trickle of water coming off of the hood and I later had a bit of difficulty getting all of the fins of the grill properly dried. The car seemed to run okay when I moved it from my driveway back into my garage. I was afraid the trickle might have wrecked the engine or something.

When I rinsed the left door of the Prowler I used more of a drizzle, while the right door got more of a sprinkle. I believe that these are probably unrelated to either a flow or a stream and therefore are more than likely neither good nor bad.

I dried the vehicle off with a chamois and some 100% cloth towels and it looks okay, but only time will tell what carnage I may have wrought against my Prowler by not understanding the profound yet subtle distinction between a flow and a stream.

GRROWLAt the Meguiars seminar, Rod Kraft demonstrated as follows:

Take any nozzles off the hose, set it to medium stream - not shooting out, not a trickle.

Flood the car from the highest part so that the water is running off in a continuous sheet.

Swing the hose away, and 90 percent of the water will run off, thus GREATLY reducing the drying effort.

I tried it after the demo, and it WORKS!

P.S. - If you ever get the opportunity to attend a Meguiars seminar, TAKE IT!

CJHmmmmmmmmm...........flow.........water flowing from a hose without a nozzle of any kind........stream.....forceful flow of water coming from a spray nozzle.......

now if they had said ebb and flow you might not have been as confused???

Bob MillerGosh, I thought this thread was about my prostate!!!
ed monahanBilly Crystal said his flow is now in Morse Code. Dots and Dashes.

I went out to AutoZone and bought the Meguiar's Deep Crystal Car Wash Pressure Rinse Kit. Am I doing this right? I still can't tell if that's a flow or a stream.

Rod Craft might want to read the instructions again on the bottle. As stated by rsterling78, the instructions said to rinse the car off "with a flow of water (not a stream)..."
I don't know if the instructions mentioned flooding your car, but I don't think this is advised. I flooded my car once and it took forever to start it again.
CTProwlerI use Zaino car wash, rinse, then take my Back Pack blower and blow off the car and wheels! Then i go over the whole car quickly with a drying cloth. I think all these new washes are effected by the hardness of your water, and how good they really work. JMO

Last time I'll answer a question in "General" with a serious answer.

WildCatthe idea of taking the nossle off and letting the water flow over the paint will make a SHEET of water that rinses better

Try it. Spray the car with the nossle on and look at how the water beads.

Remove the nossle and do it again and see if you can tell a difference

Will it cause the paint to flake off, NO. It will do no real damage. But those guys at Mequire's know how to polish a car.

rsterling78Hopefully everyone in this thread recognized the tongue-in-cheek approach to the subject matter. I thought it was kind of funny that there might be so much technique to the simple act of rinsing off a car, but from what I've read here, there apparently is quite a bit of technique to it.

I appreciate the advice and I'll try it out next time I wash my Prowler.

Black Tie 161I sheet the water off the car too with no nozzle attached.

It drastically reduces the amount of water to dry off.

Most "NO DRY" car wash solutions depend on you sheeting the water off rather than the formula of the detergent!
